Jerre Riggs '02
Jerre Riggs '02 is a recovering litigator with a passion for commercial real estate and the evolving workplace, particularly as it relates to entrepreneurs, startups, and the innovation economy. At work, Riggs holds dual roles: (1) chief commercial officer for Benjamin's Desk, a rapidly expanding coworking and business incubation company based in Philadelphia; and (2) co-founder and chief operating officer of FirstBase, a brokerage dedicated to providing real estate solutions for startups, entrepreneurs, and mobile corporate employees. Riggs is on the ownership team of both entities.
Riggs also serves as the managing director of a strategic alliance known as the Benjamin's Desk Challenge Center powered by 1776. The Challenge Center with 1776 (a Washington, D.C.-based incubator with a global presence) brings startups, corporations, and government together to solve complex challenges. In Riggs's role as managing director, he fosters and builds relationships between startups and key players in the capital stack (angels, VCs, family offices).
Prior to joining Benjamin's Desk and FirstBase, Riggs was a commercial real estate broker with Colliers International and a litigator with Blank Rome LLP. He received his law degree from the Villanova University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, where he studied abroad in both Switzerland and Tasmania. Riggs also taught English in Prague and worked for AmeriCorps before entering law school.
Outside of work, Riggs is an Ironman triathlete, avid skier, sporadic rock climber, and mediocre surfer.
