Advancing Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

At the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration, we believe in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable community, one in which each of us feels we belong, we are heard and valued, and we can learn, contribute, and thrive. That is what true hospitality means in its most profound sense. Systemic racism and racial bias and inequity are everyone’s problems and we are strongly committed to creating an inclusive, antiracist environment that celebrates the richness of diversity.

The Cornell Nolan School’s Pledge to Create an Inclusive and Equitable Community

We must do more to systematically identify our own blind spots and take comprehensive action to rectify the structures and practices that perpetuate racism and inequity in our school. All of us need to listen more closely to the experiences of others, jump in from the sidelines, advocate loudly, and be champions of change.

The Nolan School’s Action Plan for Racial Equity

The Nolan School has launched several initiatives to combat racism and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the school. We want every member of our community to understand how important an inclusive, antiracist culture is to our future.
