Dean’s Council of Young Alumni
The dean of the School of Hotel Administration works closely with young alumni—those who have graduated within the last 5–15 years. The Council of Young Alumni strives to help shape the next generation of hospitality leaders by:
- Providing feedback on current issues in the industry
- Offering ideas for how the school can enhance its programming
- Working with students as career mentors
- Fostering a strong philanthropic culture
Young alumni who lead by example
The Council of Young Alumni comprises graduates who lead by example—they are successful in their careers and dedicated to supporting current students who will soon enter the workforce. Young alumni are closely connected to emerging areas within the hospitality industry and can play a prominent role in introducing exciting and valuable programming that can directly impact Hotelies’ educational experiences.
Selection criteria and term requirement
Members of the Council of Young Alumni are appointed by the dean of the Hotel School in collaboration with current council members. They are selected based on their experience both inside and outside the hospitality industry, involvement in other nonprofit organizations, and demonstration of volunteer leadership.
Appointees serve three-year terms and are required to serve on one of three subcommittees: engagement, philanthropy, or nomination and governance.
