Preparing for the Job Search
The preparation we are asking you to do is a process of interconnected activities that uses a wide range of resources available in our office and across Cornell. Our Career Management staff is here to help you navigate the process.
Know Yourself: As a Hotelie, you’ve already completed the first part of this process! By selecting the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration, you know that you want to work in the hospitality industry. Your faculty advisor, the Career Management staff, and Career Management programs will help you focus on academic concentrations and other crucial skills you need to develop.
Explore Your Options: Start preparing your resume and getting feedback from an advisor, and start researching companies that interest you.
Take Action: Now put it all together. First, polish your shoes and make sure your suit is pressed. Then organize all of your networking contacts, identify job and internship opportunities, practice interviewing, and get ready to negotiate an offer.
