Faculty & Advising

MS and PhD admission is contingent on the availability of our world class graduate faculty to advise new graduate students and the alignment of candidates’ proposed research topics with current faculty research.  Admission is extremely competitive and it’s not uncommon for SHA to not admit any MS or PhD students in a given year.

The MS and PhD degrees are highly individualized programs. Once accepted into either program, students select a special committee of graduate faculty members—two for MS candidates and three for PhD candidates—who will guide the development of a personalized course of study aligned to the candidate’s background and interests.
