Sush Torgalkar is President and Chief Executive Officer of Extell Development Company, a full-service, globally-acclaimed developer of residential, office, retail and hospitality properties. Operating primarily in Manhattan, the company’s impressive portfolio continues to expand throughout New York City and other key markets across the nation.
Since its founding in 1989, Extell has developed more than 25 million square feet across 35 luxury projects. Extell is fully integrated in all aspects of real estate, driven by an internal team of over 300 employees whose combined breadth of experience comprises all areas of real estate development including architecture, construction, marketing, sales, property management, finance and investor relations. Having built and maintained strong relationships with the lending and institutional investor communities, Extell has completed hundreds of transactions, worth more than $25 billion, including some of the largest and most complex executions of construction, assemblage, conversion and permanent financings.
Reflected in its portfolio of superior, high-end properties is Extell’s dedication to sophisticated design, gracious floor plans and first-class amenities. Recently Extell has led the development of the Upper West Side’s Riverside South residential neighborhood with The Avery, The Rushmore, The Aldyn, The Ashley and One Riverside Park. Other exceptional Extell properties include: the 132-unit One57, Extell’s flagship residential tower above the Park Hyatt New York; the 550-unit Orion; and noteworthy restoration projects such as 995 Fifth Avenue and The Carlton House. Extell’s current projects include: Central Park Tower, a 1,550-foot architectural landmark situated just steps from Central Park, with 179 of the most exclusive homes in the world as well as 50,000 square feet of services and amenities; One Manhattan Square, an 80-story glass tower located on the edge of New York Harbor on the Lower East Side, offering 815 condominium residences and over 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities; and Brooklyn Point, a 720-foot-tall tower featuring 458 residences, over 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities and spectacular views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan skyline and waterways.
Prior to joining Extell, Torgalkar served as Chief Operating Officer of Westbrook Partners, a private real estate investment company with over $11 billion of equity in approximately $45 billion of real estate investments globally on behalf of public and corporate pension funds, endowments, foundations and financial institutions. Torgalkar spent over 18 years at Westbrook, where he was a member of the firm’s investment committee and coordinated Westbrook’s global operations, including acquisition, asset management and investor relations activities. Torgalkar received a BS from Cornell University in 1999 and launched his career in the real estate investment banking group at Merrill Lynch. He currently serves as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration. Torgalkar is also on the Board of Trustees for St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio.
