Robert N. Gregor, Esq. is the founder and owner of Gregor Hotels and a practicing attorney in commercial litigation and transactional matters. He received his B.S. from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration in 2000 and graduated magna cum laude from Cornell Law School in 2007. In between undergraduate and law school, Mr. Gregor founded Sova Consultants, a hotel consulting firm specializing in feasibility studies for the lodging industry and was a regular contributor in several industry periodicals. Additionally, in 2002, Mr. Gregor founded Aurora Owle Books, a used and antiquarian book e-tailer.  Following a foray into politics, Mr. Gregor sold his businesses and enrolled in law school in 2004.

During law school, Mr. Gregor received a teaching fellowship from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and was a teaching assistant at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. After law school, Mr. Gregor worked as a corporate attorney at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison, LLP in Manhattan specializing in mergers and acquisitions of publicly traded companies.

In 2009, Gregor Hotels was born.  Throughout the next decade, Gregor Hotels grew in sales and room count, however, the Covid-19 pandemic forced a repositioning. Seizing on the growing short-term rental trend, Gregor Hotels fused the “mom and pop” hotel with short-term rentals by repositioning standard motel rooms into short-term rental suites, studios, and apartments with a unique regional feel. Gregor Hotels retains a family feel and boasts a diverse and talented team of hospitality professionals. In addition, Mr. Gregor is Of Counsel at Klausner Cook, PLLC in Ithaca, New York, where he heads the firm’s litigation practice and is a member of the firm’s hospitality practice group.

In 2023, Mr. Gregor was named the Executive Director of both the Leland C. and Mary M. Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship and the Center for Hospitality Research in the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration at the S.C. Johnson College of Business at Cornell University.  Additionally, Mr. Gregor teaches Conversations with Entrepreneurs (HADM 3135/6135) at the Cornell Nolan School.
