After 35 years in the hospitality industry, Barbara Lang founded B. Lang Consulting, where she provides services ranging from intensive hospitality literacy workshops for Barclays bank employees to hands-on career coaching and life skills training for underserved youth in New York City and Cambodia.
Lang’s lifelong approach to generosity networking and living a Hospitality Mindset™ has yielded an international community of contacts with whom she continues to engage and connect. Her signature career coaching style focuses on building authentic communities that yield lifelong relationships.

Lang’s own diverse career spans over 65 job experiences, including Napa Valley winery culinary director, restaurant co-owner, schooner chef, food entrepreneur, consultant, author of Restaurant to Retail: A Handbook for Food and Hospitality Professionals, Cornell University faculty member, and career advisor. Lang is currently advisory board chair with EGBOK, a nonprofit hospitality school in Cambodia where young adults learn hospitality and life skills to help them secure sustainable careers and incomes. Lang continues to cultivate her passion for social entrepreneurship, focusing on hospitality career training to help members of underserved communities break cycles of poverty.
Lang holds a degree from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration and from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, in food marketing. She is an avid open-water swimmer, world traveler and mother of two adult daughters who claim she is an “all-around badass—in a good way.”
