Deja Vu All Over Again: Lodging Lessons for Restaurant Distribution

May 17, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

Overview

Takeout is in. According to the National Restaurant Association’s “2022 State of the Restaurant Industry” report, 54% of adults say takeout or food delivery is essential to the way they live, including 72% of millennials. To meet rising demand, restaurants have expanded off-premise dining options. Yet meal delivery apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub and others — whose collective sales in February 2022 grew 10 percent year over year — are complicating distribution and undercutting revenues.

Join this webcast with Cornell hospitality revenue management and technology experts to explore the lodging industry’s evolution and the similar challenges it faced 20 years ago with the introduction of online travel agencies. Panelists translate lessons learned from lodging into advice for restaurant operators on how to best manage — and benefit from — these new channels.
