Lou Hellebusch joined GEM in 2010 and is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. In this role, Lou oversees legal and compliance matters including the structuring and closing of transactions, legal due diligence, and the firm’s compliance program. Additionally, he is a member of GEM’s Risk Committee. Prior to joining GEM, Lou was an attorney in the real estate practice group at Kirkland & Ellis, and before that he was a Legal Assistant in the real estate practice group at Sullivan & Cromwell. Lou received a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Classics from Columbia University.
