George Markantonis has served as president and chief operating officer of The Venetian and The Palazzo Casino Resorts and The Sands Expo Center, all in Las Vegas, since March 2015. Arguably the largest hotel in the world with 7,100 rooms, this complex also includes over 2 million square feet of conference and expo space and is the U.S. flagship for Las Vegas Sands Corporation.
For the nine years prior to this appointment, Markantonis served as president and managing director of The Atlantis Paradise Island mega-resort in The Bahamas.
His hospitality leadership background also includes senior executive positions with Kerzner International in Dubai, with Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in six U.S. and international destinations.
He has been honored with numerous awards during his career, including Hotelier of the Year awards for The Caribbean and for Nevada, and has also been recognized by the American Hotel & Lodging Association with their national “Arthur Landstreet Award” for his impact on the quality of professional development and training in the hospitality industry while at Caesars Palace.
