Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of services does the Communication Center provide?
The Communication Center provides free consulting for written and oral assignments. We can also assist you with recurring writing problems you may have. We help SHA students further develop and fine-tune their communication skills to be industry leaders. The Communication Center is not a remedial service—even great students sometimes need help.
Who is eligible to receive consults?
All SHA undergraduate, MMH, and PhD students.
How do I take advantage of the Communication Center's services?
- Follow the instructions to confirm your appointment on the Meet With Consultant page.
- Bring two copies of the assignment you would like to work on, along with the original assignment sheet.
Can I always get an appointment?
We have a limited number of consultants. If you wait until the last minute, you may not be able to get help, so try to make your appointments in advance to ensure that you get the appointment times you want. Please be on time for your appointments; if you are late, your consultant may help someone else. For a quick question or consultation, please Skype in at sha.communication.center during our open hours. No scheduled appointment necessary for Skyping.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
If you cannot come to a scheduled appointment, please cancel it right away so another student may sign up.
