Danny Stein is a seasoned, growth-oriented executive with over 27 years of operating and investment experience across media, technology and consumer businesses. Stein has managed across the full life-cycle of deal origination through exit for small and mid-cap public and private companies.

Currently, Stein is a Managing Partner of Volery Capital Partners, a private equity firm that invests in in asset managers that generate positive environmental and social impact, providing growth equity and strategic support to best-in-class investment managers.

From 2015-2016, Stein was the Senior Vice President, Growth Investments of MacAndrews and Forbes Holdings, Inc., a company that acquires and manages a diversified portfolio of public and private companies across various industry segments.  In that role, Stein’s focus was on building and investing in digital media and technology-enabled businesses. Through MacAndrews and Forbes, Stein also served as President of New Media and Corporate Development at Deluxe Entertainment (a wholly owned subsidiary of MacAndrews of Forbes), responsible for Corporate Development, M&A, Strategy, Digital Media and Innovation.

From 2003-2014, Stein served as President of JDS Capital Management, Inc., an investment firm based in New York that makes investments in private and public media and technology companies. Through JDS, Stein served as Chief Executive Officer of Dimensional Associates, Inc., the operating company set up to originate and manage private equity investments made by JDS Capital Management, Inc. including The Orchard, Dimensional Music Publishing and eMusic. Stein was Chairman of the Executive Committee at The Orchard from 2003-2014. From 2004-2008 Stein was Chairman of Dimensional Music Publishing, formerly Dreamworks Music Publishing.

From 2001-2002, Stein was the Chief Executive Officer of TTR Technologies, a publicly traded software company that specialized in copy-protection technologies, whose assets were sold to Macrovision (MVSN). From 1999-2000, Mr. Stein was President, Chief Operating Officer and a Director of the Wedding List Company, an internet company with retail outlets specializing in the wedding gift and registry business. From 1993-1999 Stein was founder and Chief Executive Officer of Burly Bear Network, a media company providing cable programming and online services to college students.  From inception to 1999, Burly Bear became the largest college cable television network and online service, servicing 8 million U.S. households.  Burly Bear was sold in 1997 to Lorne Michaels, owner of Broadway Video and creator and producer of Saturday Night Live.

Stein sits on the Boards of 1091 MediaMikmak and Phokus Research Group and is an Advisor to Luminari Capital LP. Stein has a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and resides with his wife and three children in New York City.
