Dear SHA Alumni,
Next month in New York City is the annual hotel show—HX: The Hotel Experience—and I hope that those of you attending will also join me in some longstanding Hotelie events that happen during this time.
Sunday, November 13 is the Cornell MMH Reception, offering a networking opportunity for MMH alumni, current students, and industry leaders. The highlight of the reception is the presentation of the MMH Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award. At this year’s 15th annual reception we are proud to recognize Kelly McGuire, MMH ’01, PhD ’07, vice president of advanced analytics at Wyndham Destination Network, for her imprint on the hospitality industry and her continued service to the school and our students.
On Monday, November 14 I will provide a school update at the Cornell Hotel Society General Meeting. Hear from the CHS executive board, and learn more about the Cornell Tech graduate program based in New York City. Directly following is another excellent opportunity to meet fellow Hotelies at the 94th Annual Cornell Hotel Society New York City HX Reception; you can be among the first to learn who will be named the 2017 Cornell Icon of the Industry.
The Center for Real Estate and Finance will host the eighth annual Cornell International Real Estate Case Competition on November 15. This competition brings together 20 teams of students from top universities around the world for an intense five-day case analysis and presentation of an actual real estate transaction, judged by a panel of leading real estate experts. Please send positive thoughts to our Cornell team!
I look forward to these and future opportunities to meet many of you in person, and thank you for all that you do to support our school and our fabulous students.
With best wishes,
Kate Walsh, PhD
Interim Dean and E. M. Statler Professor
