Real Estate Minor Alumni Club (REMAC)

REMAC, Cornell’s young alumni real estate organization, has kicked off 2014 with a great start. So far this year, REMAC hosted its annual reception for the Cornell Real Estate Club (“CREC”) in New York City (following the CMBS: A Retrospective in April), organized a happy hour at the Andaz 5th Avenue, and rolled out a mentorship program with CREC.

The annual reception in April was a huge success with over 60 alumni, faculty, industry leaders, and undergraduates in attendance. REMAC plans to continue co-hosting this event with CREF every spring.

In February, REMAC hosted its first happy hour of 2014 at the Andaz. These quarterly events are great opportunities to reconnect with friends, colleagues, and other alumni in a more casual setting. With over 30 people attending the Happy Hour at the Andaz 5th Avenue, the event was widely talked about within the alumni community in New York City, and ended up leading to new job opportunities for several attendees. Look for an e-mail in the coming weeks about the next event.

With the implementation of the REMAC-CREC mentorship program, 20 students have made direct connections to young alumni in the real estate industry and have been able to gain valuable insight into the ins and outs of the industry. Mentors in diverse fields such as brokerage, investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, development, and property management were hand-picked and matched with students looking to pursue those fields. Feedback from both the students involved as well as the mentors has been extremely positive.  Now that the 2014 collegiate year has come to an end, the next group of mentorships will begin in the Fall.

If you or anyone you know is interested in joining or in starting a new chapter outside of New York City, please contact the REMAC Board at
