CREF NYC Trek and Networking Reception

This year’s annual New York City Trek hosted by the Cornell Real Estate Club was one not to be missed. On April 23 and 24, over 30 students took a “Walk Down 57th Street” and visited with representatives from several different companies working on landmark projects in Manhattan. Over the two day trip, the students visited:

The Witkoff Group – Park Lane Hotel;
Extell Development – One57;
Related Space Urban – 60 Columbus Circle;
Silverstein Properties – 7 WTC, 9/11 Memorial Park, 4 WTC; and
Park Hill Group.

Participating students appreciated this opportunity. Anna Dong ’15 said:

“The NYC Trek was an unparalleled experience that allowed me to interact with industry leaders in real estate. Every company we went to had big plans for the future and were excited to share them with us. The time spent was invaluable, and helped me have a better understanding of what industry professionals think about and how they make decisions. The opportunity to network with Cornell alums in New York City allowed me to make connects and learn more about the diversity of exit opportunities provided by participating in the real estate program.”

Jack Henry Kapp ’17 recalls:

“The real estate trek to New York City provided a unique opportunity to explore developments in person and meet with industry professionals. The emphasis on learning in a real time setting speaks for itself. It is just another reason why I am so fortunate to be a part of Cornell and the Hotelie network.”

A highlight of the trip occurred on Thursday evening when the student travelers joined members of the Real Estate Minor Alumni of Cornell (REMAC) at a CREF Networking reception. The event, hosted at Langham Place, Fifth Avenue, brought together over 50 students and alumni. This was part of CREF and REMAC’s continuing program of solidifying real estate student and alumni connections.
