Real Estate Club Offers Practical Skills Training and Opportunities

The Cornell Real Estate Club (CREC) is building a name for itself by becoming a link to industry, facilitating co-curricular education, and increasing student engagement in the field. CREC has an exciting schedule of activities, workshops and treks on tap for this year.

Guest speakers will meet with club members during both semesters this year. The fall schedule is dedicated to job preparation, as that is when most recruiting takes place. The spring is dedicated to activities, including Career Treks to Philadelphia, New York City, and Ithaca. Members will have the opportunity to visit industry-leading companies with a special emphasis on hospitality during the Philadelphia trip and on commercial real estate during the New York City trip.

This year, Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC) will be showcasing a group of students who have exhibited success (e.g. through publication, winning a case competition) and a clear interest in hospitality real estate. CREC has been working with the leadership of HEC to make this happen!

CREC will host five top senior students for an interview prep panel. The Club believes that the students’ stories and knowledge could add an immense amount of value to students in the midst of a current or future job or internship search. The goal of the panel is to help students interested in pursuing a career in financial services and real estate become more prepared for – and more comfortable with – the internship and full-time recruiting processes.

The Club has undergone major leadership changes since last year. Currently, our cohesive E-Board consists of only three people: the Co-Presidents David Weinstein ‘15 and David Fitzpatrick ’16 and the VP Finance, Eric Zilber ‘16. We’re looking for three additional people to fill the roles described below:

  • VP IT and Website Development – Duties include finishing and managing Club website, managing listserv, and profiling members/alumni for a database. Interest in real estate is not required.
  • VP Marketing – Handles all Club branding in addition to graphic design and marketing for all events. Interest in real estate is not required.
  • VP Club Development – This role is reserved for those who are passionate about real estate and have great leadership and communication skills. The goal is for the person in this role to become a Co-President starting next year (August 2015).

Please contact David Weinstein (dw444@cornell.edu) or David Fitzpatrick (dbf48@cornell.edu) if you are interested in any of these positions or if you would like to become involved with CREC activities.
