RICHARD A. BAKER (BS Hotel ’88) is Governor and Chief Executive Officer of Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC). HBC was established in 1670 and is the longest continuously running retail company in North America.  HBC operates Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord and Taylor, Hudson’s Bay, Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth and Home Outfitters.

Mr. Baker, along with his father Robert Baker, own and manage National Realty & Development Corp.  This company is one of the largest privately owned real estate development companies with a portfolio of shopping and business centers located in 20 states with prominent retailers such as Wal-Mart, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Toys ‘R Us and Home Depot.  In addition, Mr. Baker is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for ROIC (Retail Opportunity Investment Corp) which is a REIT listed on the NASDAQ Exchange.  Its focus is to acquire retail properties on the east and west coasts of the United States.

Lisa Baker, Richard’s wife, is a graduate of the University of Vermont, an avid art collector and commissions works of art and arranges exhibitions and placements for the artists. In support of both established and emerging artists, she has created the Baker International Exhibitions Foundation (BakerIE.)  Lisa is a member of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art Advisory Council and the Photography Committee of the Guggenheim Museum.

On July 1, 2014, Mr. Baker will begin his four-year term on the Cornell University Board of Trustees.  He served two terms on the Cornell University Council and is a member of the Major Gifts Committee. Mr. Baker serves or has served on several councils and advisory Boards at Cornell including: the Baker Program in Real Estate Advisory Board, the School of Hotel Administration Advisory Council, the Center for Real Estate and Finance Advisory Board, and the Center for Real Estate and Finance Industry Fellows.

Mr. and Mrs. Baker reside in Greenwich, Connecticut with their three children, Henry, Jack, and Serena.
