Louis Hellebusch is senior vice president and co-general counsel for GEM Realty Capital, which he joined in 2010 as associate general counsel. Louis works on structuring, documenting, and closing transactions for GEM Realty Properties, and legal, regulatory, and compliance matters for GEM Realty Securities. Prior to joining GEM, Louis was a lawyer in the Real Estate Practice Group at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and prior to that was a legal assistant in the Real Estate Practice Group at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School in 2006, and a Bachelor of Arts in classics from Columbia University in 2001.
Founded in 1994, GEM Realty Capital, Inc., is a Chicago-based real estate investment company that invests in private-market and publicly traded real estate through two lines of business, GEM Realty Properties and GEM Realty Securities. Through GEM Realty Properties, GEM sponsors private equity real estate funds that invest directly in properties and loans.
