Host Hotels Becomes Newest Partner of Cornell Center for Hospitality Research

Ithaca, NY, October 14, 2013 – Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc., one of the largest owners of luxury and upper-upscale hotels in the world, has become a partner of the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) at the School of Hotel Administration. As a partner, Host will help support and guide the center's research agenda, as well as participate in the CHR's Advisory Board. Joining the board will be Rick Werber, Host's vice president, engineering technical services.

"I welcome Host Hotels & Resorts to the CHR and Rick Werber to our Advisory Board," said Rob Kwortnik, CHR academic director and an associate professor at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. "With its focus on driving sustainability within its luxury upper-upscale hotel portfolio, Host adds a unique perspective to our board. Plus, given Rick's deep experience in design, construction, and operations, I look forward to his research ideas."

For his part, Werber pointed to the CHR's unique operations. "I don't know of another research center that shares its studies with the industry at no cost," he said. "I'm pleased to support that effort, especially because Host has made a strong commitment to corporate responsibility." A graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, Werber has been instrumental in developing Host's Corporate Responsibility strategy, which focuses on the company's commitment to Responsible Investment, Environmental Stewardship, and Corporate Citizenship.

The CHR's Senior Partners, Partners, and Friends create a strong framework for the center, which is now in its 21st year of operation. In addition to publishing research reports, the CHR sponsors industry roundtables and supports numerous research projects.
