CHR Issues 2010 Annual Report

Thanks to the support of corporate partners, Cornell faculty and research fellows, and industry leaders, 2010 was the most active year on record for the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research. Headlining the year was the inaugural Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS), which drew 225 industry leaders and academic researchers to campus for a top-level exchange of research findings and industry information. Produced by the CHR, with the considerable assistance of the staff of the School of Hotel Administration and Statler Hotel, the conference presented 45 different seminars on such topics as social media, sustainability, and industry analytics.
In addition to the CHRS, the CHR continued its existing program of industry roundtables, webcasts, and publications. The CHR published nineteen research reports, two tools, three industry perspectives, three research briefs, and two roundtable proceedings in 2010, in addition to the four regular issues of the Cornell Hospitality Quarterly.
Because of the signal support of its 81 friends, partners, and senior partners, the CHR’s business model of distributing its research studies without charge is unmatched anywhere in academe. Over 88,000 people subscribe to the CHR’s semi-monthly newsletter, and the CHR website averages 1,600 new registrants per month, with a total of 121,329 registrants. This includes 3,219 colleges and universities that download reports for classroom use in 115 countries.
