News From the Office of Executive Education
The Office of Executive Education hit the ground running in 2013, hosting the global General Managers Program (GMP), celebrating the sale of its 100,000th online course, and launching a new online certificate in new media marketing.
The eighth offering of the January GMP, which was held January 14-24 at the Statler Hotel, included 20 participants from 17 countries as far away as Croatia and Chile. The 10-day program featured classes taught by SHA professors Steve Carvell, Bill Carroll, Jan deRoos, Cathy Enz, Robert Kwortnik, Bruce Tracey, and Kate Walsh, as well as industry professional Ali Kasikci. The group experienced an intensive journey filled with real-world business applications, invaluable industry connections, and access to the world’s leading educators in hospitality management. The next GMP will be June 10-20, 2013.
The Office of Executive Education first began selling online courses through its partner eCornell in 2002, and online learning continues to show significant growth with thousands of hospitality professionals from around the globe participating each year. One of the few online learning institutions to offer live course instructors, Cornell’s virtual classrooms are engaging, interactive, and designed by SHA faculty using the most current case studies and industry research. Facilitated by eCornell, SHA offers 52 courses that learners can engage with at any time and in any place. The school also offers a 25 percent discount on online courses for Cornell alumni and U.S. service veterans. Contact the office for more information.
