Banfi Scholastic Tour Prize

Banfi Scholastic Tour Prize

The Banfi Scholastic Tour Prize includes a one-week arranged trip to several Italian wine areas and includes airfare, rooms, and most meals. The student on the summer 2017 trip will visit several of the famous winemaking regions in Italy and meet with the winemakers and staff from different producers.

Application

Application for this award is limited to seniors in the School of Hotel Administration whose career interests lie in food and beverage management operations, and who have demonstrated an interest in fine wines. The award is intended for a student who is graduating in January, as the trip begins on May graduation weekend. This award is primarily an undergraduate award; however, MMH candidates who meet the criteria may also apply.

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of the food and beverage core curriculum, and several of the following food and beverage elective courses, by the conclusion of the current academic year:

    • HADM 4300 - Introduction to Wines
    • HADM 4310 - Wine and Food Pairing Principles and Promotion

  • Demonstrated record of "hands-on," line-level production experience in foodservice operations or in other beverage-related fields.

  • Good academic standing and demonstrated outstanding talent, commitment, and enthusiasm.
