Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH): Student Experience Panel

Connect with current MMH students to hear about their experience in the program and ask them anything – why they applied, what made them choose Cornell, and what it is like as a graduate student in Ithaca. This session will include a presentation from our current students and time for your questions. March 21 at 6:00pm – 6:45pm EDT:  Register Here

What we Value

Members of the admissions committee conduct a holistic review of each application. Strong applications to our program will showcase their ability to:

  • flourish in a quantitative and rigorous curriculum,
  • communicate effectively in written and verbal contexts,
  • present a well-considered career plan,
  • approach challenges with creativity and ingenuity,
  • work effectively in groups and
  • make positive contributes to our community and society.

Is the MMH right for you?

Rather than a research-focused graduate degree intended to lead you to a PhD program and career in academia, the MMH prepares you to work on the ground in a management and leadership capacity in the hospitality industry. Your cohort will be composed of students from varying professional and academic backgrounds.

You’re a professional looking to advance or change direction.

Whether you currently work in hospitality and want to advance in your career, or you’re planning to switch into the industry from another, the MMH program will solidify your business skills in the context of hospitality and you’ll build your professional network among hospitality leaders.

You’re considering a future in entrepreneurship.

If you’re an experienced or aspiring entrepreneur, the MMH program’s coursework and hospitality industry exposure will help you define, build, and lead your business. Cornell and the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration have many resources available for entrepreneurs—you may even find your next business partner or investor.

Your family owns a hospitality business.

The focus and flexibility of the MMH program develops your leadership skills, so if you’re positioned to take on a leadership role in your family’s hospitality business, you’ll have the skills needed to analyze future challenges and opportunities. The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business is known for its unique family business programming.

You’re preparing to launch your career in hospitality.

If you’ve recently earned an undergraduate degree and you’re considering graduate school options, the MMH program will open doors as you prepare for and launch your career in this dynamic industry. MMH students are passionate about hospitality, even if they don’t have prior industry work experience.
