Applying to AMP

How do I apply to AMP?

You can apply online: Online Application

The application will be reviewed by the Office of Executive Education and we will contact you, usually within two business days, to advise you of your status.

What are the requirements to enroll in AMP?

AMP participants include executives in the hospitality and tourism industry with at least seven years of work experience showing professional achievement and proven leadership.

While many cultures enrich the Cornell experience, English is the language of instruction in AMP. To participate in and benefit from the classes, participants must have well-developed English-language communication and reading comprehension skills.

Is there a deadline to apply?

Although there is no deadline to apply to AMP, you should apply as soon as possible to reserve a space in the program, make the necessary travel and lodging arrangements, and process your visa, if needed.

Fees and Payment

What is the cost of AMP, and what is included in the fee?

The Advanced Management Program four-week fee is US$25,875 (inclusive of Singapore GST) and includes tuition, course materials, breakfast, lunch and breaks on class days. The evening meal is on your own.

What payment incentives are offered?

Contact the Office of Executive Education for information on corporate pricing or multiple participant discounts.

What is your cancellation policy?

We will refund 100% of your payment if written notification is received more than 50 days before the first session begins.  We will refund 50% if written notification is received 15-50 days before.  No refund will be given if written notification is received less than 15 days before.  At our discretion, you may substitute a qualified participant to attend in your place.

When do I have to pay?

A US$2,500 deposit is due after your application has been accepted to secure your place. The remainder of the fee is due seven weeks prior to the first session of the program.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Payment of the program fee can be made by credit card, check or wire transfer.

What additional costs will I incur?

Additional costs you may incur include, but are not limited to: travel, hotel accommodations, non-included meals, hotel incidentals (such as parking, laundry and telephone), alcoholic beverages, and personal activities and purchases.

Where can I stay during the program in Ithaca?

Participants are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements and paying for them at their own expense. The program will take place at the School of Hotel Administration, in the midst of Cornell's beautiful campus. We have negotiated  a special rate with The Statler Hotel, located on campus, adjacent to the School of Hotel Administration.

You can reserve a guestroom online and receive the PDP group rate. Alternatively, you can receive the rate by using the block code "SHAPDP17" when entering your reservation via the hotel website. You can also call the hotel directly at 800.541.2501 or email them at statler_reservations@cornell.edu and request the "PDP 2017" group rate. Reservations must be made prior to the block cut-off of May 30, 2017.

What is the appropriate attire?

To promote a comfortable learning environment, attire is casual and informal. Casual dress is also acceptable for dining in most local restaurants. If you are more comfortable in attire that is customary or traditional in your country, you may certainly dress accordingly.

What should I be sure to pack?

Although the temperature in the conference facilities is controlled, you may wish to bring a light jacket or sweater for your personal comfort. You should also bring outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for the season's weather.

Please bring with you a basic calculator for use in class. If you are traveling from outside of the United States, you may need to bring an adapter for any electrical devices you have (such as a computer or razor). The Statler Hotel uses 110- 120volts A/C at 60 cycles. Adapters are very difficult to purchase in Ithaca, so please plan ahead.

Two months prior to the start of the session, a representative from NTU will contact participants to offer available lodging options and provide other logistical information.

The recommended lodging option is the Nanyang Executive Centre. NEC is located amidst tranquil settings and soothing greenery at the Yunnan Garden Campus of Nanyang Technological University. Participants can enjoy accommodation at the Guest Wing and classes will be held at the Education Wing. Complimentary Wi-fi is available to all guests in their rooms, lobby and function spaces.
