SHA students win Park Inn by Radisson INNovation Room competition
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced that the Hotel School team won the first-ever Park Inn by Radisson INNovation Room competition.
The team progressed through the competition in stages throughout the fall 2016 semester with mentoring, tutoring, and facilitating from Brad Wellstead, lecturer in properties development and management. The event pitted the team against teams from nine other international hospitality schools in an effort to review and critique the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s Park Inn by Radisson brand. A public vote put the Cornell team in the top two, and then they were selected by the panel as the top submission.
Team members Kenneth Chow ’17, Ethan Gabany ’17, Dana Greene ’17, and Cristian Padilla ’17 call their concept “Palette,” described as “a room service alternative that provides guests with healthy, local, ready-to-eat food around the clock. Food and drinks are elegantly packaged and simply priced. A state-of-the-art payment system utilizes label sensor tags to charge guestrooms directly, innovating the transaction and enhancing the guest experience.”
Thanks also to Skip Allen, Pierre Baillargeon, AAP ’83, Andrew Clueness, Chekitan Dev, Albrecht Enders, Elizabeth Martyn, and Kevin Pham. The students on the winning team all receive internship opportunities with Carlson Rezidor.
