SHA Participates in Global Hospitality and Tourism Conferences

Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Steve Carvell and other faculty and staff will share research and expertise and connect with alumni and other industry leaders at the following upcoming hospitality and tourism conferences—the Mexico Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (MexHIC), the International Tourism Summit, and International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF).

Dean Carvell will lead a panel discussion at MexHIC, Thursday, February 17, in Mexico City, Mexico. Hosted by HVS, the inaugural MexHIC will build on the company’s tradition of organizing leading hotel conferences around the world, including the NYU Hospitality Conference in New York and annual conferences in China, India, and South America.

SHA is the exclusive academic partner of the International Tourism Summit, being held Friday, March 4, in Barcelona, Spain. This prestigious invitation-only conference is organized by IESE Business School of the University of Navarra. Dean Carvell and Rohit Verma, executive director of the Center for Hospitality Research, will lead panel discussions and Tom Kline, executive director of executive education, and Joe Strodel, director of corporate and foundation affairs, will be in attendance.

The school is also a supporter of IHIF, March 7-9, in Berlin, Germany. The conference brings together over 1,500 investors, operators, developers, and industry players and consistently offers unrivalled educational and networking opportunities. Dean Carvell will moderate the panel discussion, titled “Driving Revenue in Challenging Times—Getting Prices Back Up,” on Monday, March 7.
