Hersha Hospitality Trust and the Cornell School of Hotel Administration (SHA) have renewed a three-year corporate agreement to collaborate on real estate research and education. Education is a key focus area for the company, which is why Hersha's corporate giving committee was excited to reaffirm its commitment to Cornell and support the leading hospitality education provided by the school.
Hersha will continue its role as an Industry Fellow of the Center for Real Estate and Finance (CREF), providing financial support to the center and engaging in the development of CREF programming. The company will also sponsor several events presented by the school, including the Cornell Innovation Network, the Cornell Hospitality Icon & Innovator Awards, and the Cornell Reception at ALIS.
"Hersha has been one of the most stalwart corporate supporters of our students and programs. Hersha CEO Jay Shah is a devoted member of our Dean's Advisory Board; he has been a speaker in the Dean's Distinguished Lecture Series and a panelist for the Dean's Leadership Series. In 2007, he received the Cornell Hospitality Innovator Award. We are thrilled that he will continue to share his expertise through the CREF advisory board," said Joe Strodel, executive director for corporate affairs at SHA.
"The Cornell School of Hotel Administration is synonymous with excellence in hospitality education. The school has also quickly grown to be a leader in real estate education and research, and we are proud to support the programs of the Center for Real Estate and Finance," said Shah.
