Wells Fargo joins Cornell Center for Real Estate and Finance Industry Fellows program

The Center for Real Estate and Finance (CREF) at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration announced that Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) has joined the program as an Industry Fellow. Wells Fargo is a nationwide, diversified, community-based financial services company that provides banking, insurance, investments, mortgage, and consumer and commercial finance across North America and internationally.
“We are delighted that Wells Fargo is joining CREF as an Industry Fellow, as well as sponsoring both the annual Cornell Reception at ALIS and the annual Cornell Hospitality Icon & Innovator Awards. We look forward to a long and successful corporate partnership between Cornell and Wells Fargo,” said Jan deRoos, HVS International Professor of Finance and Real Estate and executive director of CREF.
Vernon H. Chi, senior vice president and team leader of the hotel technical services group for the Hospitality Finance Group at Wells Fargo, will represent the company at meetings of the CREF Industry Fellows. Chi has been with Wells Fargo for more than eight years, and his team is responsible for the analysis and underwriting of most major hotel loans within the bank. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, he spent six years in hospitality consulting, having held positions with KPMG Consulting and Deloitte and Touche, and two years in operations management. Chi holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration and a Masters in Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California.
The CREF Industry Fellows program is the cornerstone of the center's outreach efforts. It has been in development since CREF was founded in 2009 and now has 28 members who help fund the annual Cornell International Real Estate Case Competition, seminars on current industry topics, student travel to real estate investment conferences, as well as faculty research.
