FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Innovative Cornell Hospitality Research Summit Opens Monday-Only a Few Slots Remaining for Registration
Ithaca, NY, October 3, 2012 - Only a few registration spaces are still available for the Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS), which takes place Monday and Tuesday, October 8 and 9, at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. The CHRS features over 80 industry and academic presentations, plus keynote panel discussions by industry CEOs and the deans of global hospitality programs.
"Considering that our conference theme is to help the industry move forward, our goal is maximum transfer of information for the benefit of the industry and its related businesses," said Professor Rohit Verma, CHRS chair. "As a result, the size of this conference is carefully considered, with just under 300 participants, and we deliberately balance the presentations by industry practitioners and academic researchers." The formal CHRS theme is "Service Excellence and Performance Growth in the Global Hospitality Industry: Strategies and Approaches for Navigating Forward."
Verma also points to a series of workshops as a CHRS innovation. "We will use the Binenkorb Computer Lab for a series of hands-on presentations of tools published by the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research," he said. "We also have a workshop on social media analytics, presented by two of our senior partners, Accenture and SAS. With all these presentations, we are focusing on ideas that are useful—information to put into practice when participants get back to the office on Wednesday."
Verma concluded: "I wanted to summarize the benefits of attending CHRS in one of those top-ten lists, but we came up with ten-plus-one reasons to register. Here they are."
1. CHRS presentations are specifically aimed at moving the industry forward;
2. CHRS sessions put hospitality researchers and practitioners together for stronger synergy;
3. CHRS presents a strong keynote panel of global CEOs;
4. CHRS is the only conference presenting a keynote panel of deans of global hospitality programs;
5. CHRS is the right size so you can network and interact with presenters and other attendees;
6. CHRS gives you interactive computer workshops for learning latest tools and techniques;
7. You will have a chance to connect with top-notch Cornell Hotel Administration students;
8. You get to experience the Statler Hotel's 4-diamond food service;
9. October is a really pretty time in Ithaca;
10. Plus, we are real close to a lot of good wineries; and finally
11. By attending CHRS, you are "crowd sourcing" the industry's future.
