Chef Ron Duprat comes to Cornell for Guest Chefs Series

Students from the Cornell School of Hotel Administration's Guest Chefs class will team up with Top Chef: Las Vegas contestant and haute Haitian cuisine master Chef Ron Duprat to create a unique dining event on Saturday, February 25. A cocktail reception will begin at 6:00 p.m., with dinner being served at 7:00 p.m. in the Park Atrium of Statler Hall on the Cornell University campus. Tickets for the event are $125 all-inclusive.
Duprat's culinary journey began in Mare Rouga, Haiti, in his grandmother's kitchen. His passion brought him to the United States, where he studied at the Culinary Institute of America. Now, with more than 20 years of experience, Duprat has received many honors including the AAA Four Diamond Award in 2008 and 2009. Duprat is very established in the culinary world, and his work experience includes the Hollywood Beach Marriott Hotel, Montauk Yacht Club, and Pelican Bay Country Club.
Since his appearance on Top Chef in 2009, Duprat has appeared as a guest on Good Morning Florida and has been featured in many publications. In addition to his public appearances, Duprat has cooked for celebrities including Beyonce, Usher, and Haiti's president, Michel Martelly. Duprat also participates in many charitable organizations, including American Culinary Federation, Real Men Charities Inc., Black Culinary Alliance, No Hungry Kids, the College of Culinary Arts in Miami, First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move!, and Basil Magazine's Chef Council.
Duprat is an expert with exotic flavors and often incorporates his own Haitian Creole influences with French-Asian Fusion cuisine. Duprat cannot wait to share his culinary vision with Cornell University, and he plans on bringing the island flavor to Cornell University through conch, Caribbean rice and beans, and exotic fruits and vegetables. Better known ingredients, such as foie gras and black truffle, will also be on Duprat's menu for the evening.

The 21st edition of the Guest Chef Series, hosted by the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, gives students the opportunity to team up with all-star chefs to create three unique dining experiences. This class also improves students' overall awareness of current culinary trends and gives them direct access to recognized experts in the field. Past Guest Chefs have included Wolfgang Puck, Emeril Lagasse, Madeleine Kamman, Daniel Boulud, and Jose Andres.
