The Center for Real Estate Finance (CREF) at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration has announced that W Holdings is a new member of the Industry Fellows program. W Holdings is a diversified land development company with a portfolio that ranges from intimate commercial and residential projects to multi-thousand-acre recreational communities. W Holdings and its partners work to improve the quality of life for current and future residents of Arizona.
"W Holdings brings a unique, personal approach to the real estate development industry," said Jan deRoos, HVS International Professor of Finance and Real Estate and executive director of CREF. "Our students will gain invaluable insights and experience through our partnership with the company."
Conley Wolfswinkel, strategic management consultant to W Holdings, will represent the company at CREF Industry Fellow meetings. Wolfswinkel, who was chosen as one of the most influential business leaders of 2007 by the Phoenix Business Journal, merges his qualitative understanding of human factors with his technical expertise of land acquisition, real estate, finance, and business relationships to form a dynamic vision of sustainable and profitable development. He has a keen sense of real estate trends and passion for teaching others about the industry.
"As land development professionals, it is our responsibility—and our pleasure—to help educate and engage the future leaders of our industry. By becoming a CREF Industry Fellow, we will be able to lend our expertise to students as well as researchers," said Wolfswinkel.
The CREF Industry Fellows program is the cornerstone of the center's outreach efforts. The program helps fund the annual Cornell Real Estate Case Competition, seminars on current industry topics, student travel to real estate investment conferences, as well as faculty research. The third meeting of the Industry Fellows was held in January during the Americas Lodging Investment Summit in San Diego.
