Westbrook Partners Becomes an Industry Fellow at the Center for Real Estate Finance

Aug 26, 2010

The Center for Real Estate Finance (CREF) at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration welcomes Westbrook Partners as a new member of the Industry Fellows program. A privately-owned, fully integrated real estate investment management company with offices across the globe, Westbrook develops, operates, and manages offices, multi-family and single-family residences, hotels, and retail and industrial properties. Managing Principal Susheel Torgalkar will represent the company at meetings of the CREF Industry Fellows.

"With a diverse portfolio of international assets, Westbrook brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Industry Fellows program," said Jan deRoos, HVS Professor of Hotel Finance and Real Estate and executive director of CREF.

Torgalkar coordinates Westbrook's operations and asset management globally and is a member of the company's investment committee. He has been with Westbrook for ten years, and he has been an integral member of the project teams for many complex transactions in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Prior to joining Westbrook, he was in the real estate investment banking group at Merrill Lynch. Torgalkar received a BS degree from the School of Hotel Administration.

"Through student education and faculty research, CREF is making great contributions to the future of the real estate industry," said Torgalkar. "We are looking forward to sharing our time and expertise to advance the mission of the center."

The CREF Industry Fellows program is the cornerstone of the center's outreach efforts. The program helps fund the annual Cornell Real Estate Case Competition, seminars on current industry topics, student travel to real estate investment conferences, as well as faculty research. The most recent meeting of the Industry Fellows was held in June in conjunction with the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference in New York City.
