Cornell and PhoCusWright Partner to Boost Research and Conference Programs

The Cornell School of Hotel Administration is pleased to announce a marketing partnership with PhoCusWright Inc., a world leader in hospitality research. The agreement, signed last week, strengthens their mutual commitment to industry research and enables both organizations to extend the reach and promotion of their programs and events.

“We are excited to be partnering with PhoCusWright,” said Jon Denison, associate dean for external affairs at the School of Hotel Administration. “The research that PhoCusWright conducts is a great complement to research being done at the school and at our Center for Hospitality Research. We look forward to working with such an innovative company.”

PhoCusWright is the travel industry research authority on how travelers, suppliers, and intermediaries connect. The company delivers qualitative and quantitative research on the evolving dynamics that influence travel, tourism, and hospitality distribution. In addition to the primary research it conducts throughout the world, PhoCusWright produces several high-profile conferences in the United States and Germany and partners with conferences in the United Kingdom, Canada, China, and Singapore. At these events, industry leaders and company analysts debate issues, share ideas, and define the ever-evolving reality of travel commerce.

As a part of the new partnership, PhoCusWright will be enrolled as a corporate friend of Cornell’s Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) and the company’s senior leaders will be invited to participate in the CHR Marketing Roundtable in May 2010. In addition, PhoCusWright will sponsor several high-profile events held by the school, including the Cornell reception at the Americas Lodging and Investment Summit (ALIS) in January, the Dean’s Leadership Series events held in New York this November and in Paris next spring, and the Cornell Icon of the Industry Awards Dinner to be held next June.

Under the alliance, the School of Hotel Administration will co-sponsor an educational workshop at The PhoCusWright Conference, November 17 – 19 at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Fla. The school will also sponsor the Travel Innovation Summit at the PhoCusWright Conference, where Tom Ward, managing director of the school’s Leland C. and Mary M. Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship, will serve as a judge.
