Cornell Institute for Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations welcomes new industry advisors

Ithaca, NY, September 22, 2015 - The Cornell Institute for Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations (CIHLER) at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration (SHA) recently welcomed three new industry leaders to its advisory board. As advisory board members, they provide financial support to CIHLER and engage in the development of programming and research for the institute.

New advisory board members:

Laura FitzRandolph is chief human resources officer and assistant general counsel for Interstate Hotels & Resorts in Arlington, Virginia. She is responsible for all aspects of talent acquisition, management, and development for over 30,000 Interstate associates, and also oversees Interstate's labor and employment legal matters. FitzRandolph is active in the American Hotel & Lodging Association, serving on the labor, government affairs, and human resources committees. Rimmer has contributed chapters in books by PEI on HR due diligence and private equity portfolio compensation. He is a fellow of the U.K. Institute of Actuaries and a Certified Compensation Professional, and holds an MBA from the University of Manchester.

Ruth Seroussi '92 is of counsel in the labor and employment and litigation practice groups in the Los Angeles office of Buchalter Nemer PC. She is a member of the firm's hospitality; food and beverage; consumer products; apparel and textiles; bank and finance; and wineries, vineyards, and breweries industry practice groups. During her 19 years of practice, Seroussi has guided employers in the hospitality, mortgage lending, retail, apparel, manufacturing and entertainment industries in all aspects of employee relations. She also serves as an officer or board member for various non-profit organizations. Seroussi is a licensed real estate broker in the state of California and a member of the California Association of Realtors, the MLS, the California State Bar, and the American Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Section. She is admitted in the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Northern, Southern, and Eastern District of California, and the U.S Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

"It's an honor and a pleasure to welcome Laura FitzRandolph, Steve Rimmer, and Ruth Seroussi to the CIHLER advisory board," said David Sherwyn, academic director of the Cornell Institute for Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations and the John and Melissa Ceriale Professor of Hospitality Human Resources at SHA. "Along with the rest of our board, these seasoned professionals offer perspective and expertise that contribute immeasurably to the value of CIHLER's research and programming for students, academics, and industry."
