Regional Roundtables are designed to provide a forum to expand the reach of the Institute and the discussion of relevant and timely topics. The Cornell Center for Innovative Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations (CIHLER) and our Center member Akerman will be hosting this Regional Roundtable event.

Individual session topics:

Session 1: Mandatory Arbitration and Class Action Waivers: Should all hospitality companies implement an arbitration program?

Session 2: Anatomy of a Settlement: High level discussion of the process of settling a case including consideration of worst case scenario, publicity, precedent, principal (!), ethics, and of course cost.

For Session 3, we welcome any ideas in advance of the Roundtable, if there is a topic of particular interest that you would like to have included please let us know. Proposed topics being considered include:

1. Use of Technology in the food industry - trends and issues

or

2. Tipping - practical advice about tipped employees
