Allen J. Ostroff provides development support for Sonesta International Hotel Corporation. The program includes direct purchase, joint venture acquisitions, and management contract opportunities. He is also the principal of Hotel Dynamics, LLC, consultants to the hospitality industry. This organization specializes in hotel development, asset management, repositioning strategy, and financial engineering.
Before establishing his firm, Ostroff was managing director and head of hospitality investment banking at Prudential Securities, Inc. Prior to that he was managing director of Prudential Realty Group, where he created and supervised a $3-billion hotel investment portfolio. Before joining Prudential, Ostroff was group vice president of Americana Hotels, and prior to that, he was general manager of the New York Hilton at Rockefeller Center. Ostroff was formerly chairman of the board of Prime Hospitality Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange company.
Keenly interested in the development and encouragement of potential talent for the hospitality industry, Ostroff has taught in the General Managers Program and the Professional Development Program at the School of Hotel Administration (SHA). He also guest-lectures during the fall and spring semesters on management contracts, financial planning, and hotel development.
Ostroff is a member of the Real Estate Council at Cornell, an honorary member of the Cornell Hotel Society, and a trustee of the Cayuga Advisors. He was a conference organizer for the Cornell University Hospitality Industry Strategy Conference. Ostroff is past chair of the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Travel Administration of New York University.
Other professional affiliations include serving as past chair and trustee of the American Hotel and Lodging Foundation (AH&LF), chairman of the AH&LF Investment Committee, member and past chairman of the Industry Real Estate Financing Advisory Committee affiliated with the AH&LA, member of the AH&LF Scholarship Committee, past fellow of the board of trustees of the Educational Institute, founder of Lodging Industry Investment Council, and fellow of the Culinary Institute of America.
Ostroff received his BS in industrial management and did graduate work at New York University.
